Look, a rainbow!

During that storm last Wednesday, thunder struck so close to me that it was simultainous with the lightning. It didn’t hit me, though for a moment I thought it might have.

Then came the sort of torrential rain that I thought was only possible in Florida and other places with a coastline.

Then this:

Above the Cincinnati Cremation Co. at 525 Martin Luther King Dr.

It only lasted for ten minutes.

  1. A rainbow over a crematory. It’s like a Sylvia Plath poem.

  2. Beautiful! I’ve rarely seen that bow shape – usually just a little blur in the sky.

What kind of camera are you using?

  3. I used an inexpensive (but really fast and sharp!) point-and-shoot digital camera: the Fujifilm F20. It’s so-so in daylight — occasionally, pictures are more gray than vibrant — so I used a photo-editing program to increase the color saturation. That made the rainbow as distinct as I perceived it to be in real life.

  4. I had to oversaturate my shots too:

I wasn’t able to get the “bow” though. Great picture!
